Do I need an amp for this?+
At 300 Ω, the HD 600 will play from a phone dongle but won't fully open up — a desktop DAC/amp is where it's meant to be heard. If you're building a first proper desktop setup, budget for one alongside the headphone.
How does it compare to the HD 650?+
Same 300 Ω impedance and driver family, different tuning — the HD 600 is more neutral and slightly forward in the upper mids, the HD 650 is warmer and more relaxed. Both need the same amount of power to drive.
Can I use my existing Headgear Audio cable with it?+
Yes — the HD 600 uses the same dual-3.5mm connector as the HD 650 and HD 660S2, so any cable built for that family will fit.
